Meet Josephine!

Meet Josephine Gutentoft, General Manager of our Denver location and resident Sommelier! 

Josephine was born in Sweden and lived in South Africa before moving to California's Sonoma County, spending three intense months working at a winery in the charming town of Healdsburg. Now, she calls Colorado home and has spent the last three years at The Kitchen, where she pairs her passion for wine with delicious food.

Her go-to fall white wine is Chenin Blanc- super dry with loads of minerality. She recommends pairing it with our shrimp a la plancha or lobster roll. And as the weather cools down, cozy up with Nebbiolo, a rustic, tannin-rich red wine that’s made for enjoying with our Kansas City strip steak or hearty tagliatelle bolognese.

But wine isn’t her only talent! Josephine also teaches Swedish lessons to 3- and 4-year-olds in her free time, passing on her heritage in the most adorable way. When she’s not working or teaching, you can find her enjoying Colorado’s outdoors at Red Rocks concerts or cheering on the Avs at Ball Arena.

Josephine’s journey from Sweden to Colorado is as vibrant and layered as the wines she loves. Her passion for pairing great food with the perfect glass is undeniable and we’re so grateful for her expertise. Here’s to Josephine and her incredible story, cheers!
