-I don’t think I can pick a specific varietal that I love more than another. I love classic styles and representations of wine; wine that expresses authenticity and character. If I had to choose, give me a brunello or austrian riesling any day and I’m a happy girl.
Summer is here and the days are long and hot, what wine is best for patio parties and backyard bbqs?
-Rosé all Day! The dryer the better, I am loving two specific bottles right now- the Division ‘Gamine’ Grenache Petillant and the Chateau Peyrassol. I love the Gamine for its soft nature and elegant bubbles, this wine is only slightly sparkling giving it a unique style. The Peyrassol is exactly what I want on a hot day, paired with a lake and my kayak.
What’s cool about the wine program at The Kitchen?
-The best part about the the wine program at The Kitchen is our relationships to our producers. Our philosophy is to support sustainable, organic and even biodynamic producers who have a natural passion for what they do. We work closely with producers who share the same core values that wine sure be a pure expression of the grape and it’s surroundings.
Any tips to keep in mind when pairing wine with food? What typically works together, what doesn’t?
-Pairing wine and food can be tricky and people are going to drink what they want when it comes sitting down at the dinner table. I think the best advice I could give is to never make a guest feel like they’ve made a bad call when, for example, they decide to pair their Napa cab with a delicate piece of halibut. We’re in this business to create epic experiences for people, not to judge or discriminate. But when in doubt, what grows together goes together!
