Celebrate

Set the Mood- Start by dimming the lights and use candles to create a warm and inviting glow. When it comes to decorating, more is not always better. The last thing you want is to be tacky, unless your theme is an ugly sweater party, so keep it simple and avoid going over the top. Setting the table is your chance to set the scene for your special occasion. Highlight the bountiful harvest of the season with beautiful natural elements such as berry branches and gourds, or wow your guests with a beautiful centerpiece from Lace and Lilies www.laceandliliesflowers.com, they will not disappoint!

What’s For Dinner?-  Not only should your decor reflect the season, but your menu should also highlight the bounty of the season. While farmers markets may have come to an end, the Fort Collins Food Co-op has everything from locally baked Ingrained bread to  Buena Vida Farm pumpkins. Explore more at  www.fcfood.coop . When planning the menu it’s thoughtful to consider the possible dietary restrictions that your guests may have. Play it safe and be sure to offer both a vegetarian and gluten free option. These are common preferences and your guests will thank you when they don’t have to leave the party hungry! A seasonal risotto is our go to dish when accommodating those not eating wheat or meat.

Behind The Scenes Magic- There are a few tricks that can really make for a successful event and it all starts from the moment your guests walk through the door. Renting a coat rack is the perfect solution for all those jackets, purses and winter accessories that typically end up piled up on the sofa, floor, or on your bed. Make it accessible by placing it near the front door with plenty of hangers! Once the guests arrive, set the oven to 200° and use it as a warming oven before dinner begins. It is a sure way of clearing up counter space and ensuring that the food won’t burn, plus it allows you to sit back, relax and indulge in cocktail hour. View the plethora of rental items at www.flexxproductions.com because there are some things that just may make your evening a bit more enjoyable!
